HONDARRIBIA
Full of taste
Time seems to have stopped in this medieval town sitting on the mouth of Bidasoa River, opposite the French town of Hendaia. After countless battles and sieges, the historic district of Hondarribia still has particularly well preserved walls and bastions, and retains its original charm.
We will not miss a stroll through the cobbled alleys of the citadel lined with lovely half‑timbered buildings and townhouses and dominated by the fortified palace of Emperor Carlos V. As we go down the hill towards the sea, we will discover the former fishing hamlet which nowadays offers a mix of local color and lively atmosphere at the restaurants and packed bar terraces.
Of course we will taste delicious haute-cuisine pintxos in the best place in Hondarribia.
In the mood for oysters?
We will then set sail to the port of Hendaia, where we will indulge ourselves: delectable fresh oysters with a few drops of lemon juice, paired with a French white wine and served on a pleasant terrace.
Not-to-be-missed!
